Recruitment Lookbook

Recruitment is only a few weeks away, and if you are anything like me, you are wondering, “What am I going to wear?!” Do not worry, I’ve got you covered. I know it can sound a little cheesy to say that what you wear is to reflect who you are and to bring you the most confidence, but it is true. There is no specific dress code for recruitment, but before I give you some ideas, remember that fashion is a way to express yourself, not to fit in or to be like everyone else. Picking out my outfits for rush got me so excited to show who I am! So, if you are struggling with ideas for recruitment week, here are a few tips that I would like to give you!

Day one of rush is Go Greek Day, and it will be virtual. This means you have more freedom with your outfits and get to have way to have more fun with accessories, especially earrings! We can only see you from the waist up anyway, so be creative. Keep your options appropriate, and do not forget to add an accessory you could be remembered by!

Thankfully, Panhellenic will provide each woman going through recruitment with two shirts for the week! These shirts are to be worn on Philanthropy and Sisterhood Day, and you will receive them at recruitment orientation. Check for updates on MSU Panhellenic’s Instagram for what those t-shirts will look like, then decide what bottoms to pair with it. Recruitment week is a H-O-T one. I suggest skirts or flowy pants, but you can also wear shorts or anything you prefer. Earrings were my favorite way to dress up my t-shirt, but you can also add bracelets, necklaces, and belts.

It is all about preferences! Comfy shoes are a must — I repeat, comfy shoes are a MUST! You will get blisters, and you will walk barefoot on that hot pavement. I suggest platforms, sandals, or a cute pair of sneakers. I started out the week wearing sandals, and by the end of the week, I was wearing my Nike Air Force Ones. Take a pair of flip flops to put on in between parties to give your feet a rest. You will be responsible for your belongings, and they will stay outside while you visit each house. I found taking a ziploc to keep my phone, lip gloss, and a hand held fan was a life saver!

The last day will be Pref Night! This is such an exciting day to begin with, but getting to put on a pretty dress makes it even better! Panhellenic suggests a semi-formal dress, as in house girls will be dressed formally. You can wear any color dress! The color does not indicate your choice of what house you want, pick whatever color makes you feel best. Pair your dress with heels, wedges, platforms, or whatever makes you most confident!

BID DAY!!! The easiest day to get ready for!! Bid day = sweat. Throw on some athletic shorts or a skirt, a tank top, and some tennis shoes to run in! You will get your bid day jersey, and it will go on top of your clothing, so what you’re wearing won’t even be seen. I hope you enjoy these tips and remember to just be you! We do not judge you on what you wear, we want to get to know you for who you are!
