How To Survive Finals Week

image001-2.jpg

This semester has been so weird, different, and tough. During finals week, it is so easy to find yourself stuck in comparison of other people’s grades or stressed out of your mind for the HUGE exam the next day. It seems as though you could always do better, but you are enough just as you are. Your worth isn’t defined by the number at the top of your paper or your final grade. As this hectic week approaches, I wanted to give you some of my personal tips to surviving a really CRAZY week.

 STAY POSITIVE

It’s so easy to lose perspective of the things in our lives. We are so future-minded that we lose sight of the present and focus solely on what is to follow. Sometimes we need to take things step-by-step. It is also important to fill your heart and mind with joy as you are just trying to survive each day. Right before you begin to study, I encourage you to have some “you time” where you can refuel. Before starting each busy day, I like to choose a word to focus, making sure that I stay intentional even with a full schedule. This past week was so difficult to stay positive, even for myself. The due dates became so overwhelming. I just had to take a couple deep breaths and regain my confidence, knowing that I can complete the tasks ahead.

GO OUTSIDE

Find a good place to study where the sun is shining on you for a little bit. Vitamin D is good for the soul.

TAKE BREAKS
You can push yourself to your limits, but at some point, you need a break. Go get some coffee. Go for a walk or a run to keep you awake for those late nights before the exam. Don’t forget that rest is NEEDED.

FIND A SCHEDULE THAT WORKS FOR YOU

We all have different ways of learning. One of the best ways for me to survive and thrive is to make a schedule of how I am going to achieve everything I want to get done. You can ask my friends, and they can attest that my planner is always full and super planned out. Life definitely gets in the way, and the check marks aren’t always met when I want them to be, but it allows me to keep my head on my shoulders enough to live positively.

At the end of the day, you have to study, but you can’t lose sight of life outside the study bubble. Keep up the hard work and continue studying with peace. Peace given from the One who loves you far more than you can imagine. The peace you feel when you realize you are way more than the number on the top of the paper. Study hard knowing that you will be a better person tomorrow because of it. Anyways, HAPPY FINALS WEEK! You will do great!!!!!
