From a Thankful Gamma Chi
How do you even begin to describe an experience that changed your view of Greek life? I know that may seem a bit dramatic, but I’m serious! Being a Gamma Chi for recruitment was the best thing I could ever do, but it was also the hardest at the same time. I learned so much from each person I met through my gamma chi experience. Mississippi State Panhellenic is an amazing community that supports young women in different aspects of life, and I didn’t realize it until I was a Gamma Chi. I love being a part of the Greek community at Mississippi State which is why I wanted to share this love with young women going through the recruitment process.
If you’re like me and didn’t know what a Gamma Chi was until recruitment started, a Gamma Chi is a recruitment counselor that helps guide young women through the recruitment process. Gamma Chi’s are there for girls to use as a rock and a support system through a process that is different for everyone. The recruitment process is unique to each person because you may be looking for different values in a sisterhood than someone else, which makes it almost impossible to compare your recruitment experience to someone else’s.
It’s hard to narrow down what I learned while being a Gamma Chi. I would say I learned the true meaning of “pan-love” and respect for every Greek woman and chapter. Through my experience, I met women I would have never met otherwise. These ladies bring me genuine joy every time I see them! They taught why every chapter on the row is special, and is the best because of the women that make up that chapter. Each chapter is the best because it has the best women for that chapter as members. The Panhellenic Executive Board and the Gamma Chi ladies taught me to be vulnerable and to give everything I had to help the young women going through recruitment. I cannot express how thankful I am for those ladies and how much they taught me.
To Chi Omega Phi Delta chapter,
Thank you for supporting your Gamma Chi’s! Thank you for welcoming us back home with open arms on bid day. Despite having to disaffiliate from my chapter, I knew that I was loved, and my home would be waiting for me at the end. Thank you for being a place where I knew my girls were safe and would be heard. Thank you for the smiles through the windows because you have no idea how much they meant. Thank you for loving every young woman that walked through those doors and being a chapter I am proud to be a member of.
To my Panhellenic Executive Board and Gamma Chi ladies,
It’s hard to put into words how much you mean to me. You taught me what it means to be a panhellenic woman, to respect every person you meet and chapter you visit, to be vulnerable because I am not alone, to cherish every single moment, and to love with an open heart. You continue to support me in all my endeavors and put a smile on my face anytime I see any of y’all.
To PC ’21,
It has been a HUGE blessing to be a Gamma Chi while you went through recruitment. I am so beyond proud of you and your endurance! It brings me so much happiness seeing you in your homes and making your mark on your chapters. I cannot wait to watch you grow! I encourage you to learn what “pan-love” means, support others in different aspects of life, and become proud of being a panhellenic woman!
Peace and love always,
