Gameday in the Life

GAMEDAYS. The best time of the year. Just imagine.

You wake up in the morning to cowbells being rung down the hallway.

You get dressed in one of your cutest outfits with all of your best friends. Obviously in maroon and white.

You put your Chi Omega game day pin on that says “Chi Omega loves the Dawgs.”

You grab your cowbell and your clear purse, and then y’all are headed out the door.

As y’all walk out, the streets are flooded with people wearing maroon and white, headed to the junction.

There are bands playing, smoke in the air from grills cooking, and people laughing.

There's nothing like a gameday in Starkville.

You get in line to go into the beautiful Davis Wade Stadium and pull out your phone to scan your student ticket.

You walk in and immediately smell the chicken tenders and cheesy nachos being cooked, so y'all decide to get something to eat. Of course a Coke to go with it.

There's almost 30 minutes until the game starts, but you and your friends can’t find a place to sit together so y’all squeeze.

There's yelling and cowbells ringing right before the game starts as the football team runs out of the locker room with the fire flames reaching so high into the sky.

The game starts and everyone goes wild.

Everyone in the student section is standing the entire game on their seats, ringing their cowbells, screaming, and cheering on the dawgs.

When we finally get that touchdown, there’s nothing like a big hug or a high five.

Then the fourth quarter starts and the legendary song, “Don’t Stop Believing,” plays throughout the entire stadium. You pull out your phone, put your flashlight on, wrap your arms around your sisters, and start swaying to the music as you sing louder than ever.

Gamedays in Starkville are so fun, but what makes them the best is having people to share them with. Since my freshman year, I have always had wonderful friends to be able to make the most amazing memories with. I am so lucky to also call those friends my sisters. I am so thankful for Chi Omega, the love that my sisters have given me, and the memories that I will never be able to forget.
