Making the Most of Every Day

It’s 2021. I graduate in a year. Life is so short—especially the years that we spend in college. So, I’ve decided that I am going to make the most of every day left as a college student, and this is how I am going to do it!!

  1. Waking up early is a sure way to make the most of the day.

-We can’t create time or get time back. Sacrifice a few zzz’s for some pre-day meditation. I find that when I wake up early and spend some time thinking about the day and what I want to accomplish, I won’t be as sluggish approaching the day.

2. Start your day fresh.

-Give yourself a clean slate. Wipe everything off the table including all the negative events that may have happened prior to this day.

3. The firsts of the morning are crucial.

-The first thing you think about will set the tone for the day. If you wake up thinking about something that makes you happy and listen to upbeat music, you are more likely to have an optimistic feeling the rest of the day. What you choose to eat first thing in the morning will determine what you choose to eat the rest of the day, so if you start out with something nutritious, your body will want more food similar to that.

4. Eat a meal or go on a walk with someone new.

-You can expand your social circle over lunch or a walk down University Drive! If there is someone you want to be friends with, chase them. They will realize that someone is seeking them out, and will do the same. Take part in activities that the other person likes!!!  You could not only pick up a new friend, but also a new hobby.

5. Express your love.

-One of the most important day-to-day goals for me is to let others know that I love them. This can be accomplished in many ways! You could grab a meal from the house for a friend, have an uplifting conversation with someone, or tell them you love them, plain and simple. If I were having a day where I felt down, I would also want someone to express their love to me.

6. If you know what you are being called to do, do it now.

-Your goals are simply waiting for you! Of course there are obstacles, but whatever you can do now, do it! This could lead you down so many new paths early on and who knows where they could take you!

Take this list with you, but do not try to begin it all in one day. You could make the most of every day by accomplishing everything on your to-do list, but that could make you run out of steam. So for the last tip, be easy on yourself. Rest is essential to being able to get the most out of your life!
